These are arborists whom have joined the Tree Guild of WA and have agreed to the terms of Membership.
Accredited Members of the Tree Guild of WA
These Qualification Standards apply to those members who have chosen to apply for recognition as Accredited Professional Members of the Tree Guild of Western Australia. Accredited Professional Members are required to observe the Competency Requirements and Continuing Professional Development obligations set out in these Qualification Standards.
To become an accredited professional member, you will need to submit a ‘continuing professional development program log sheet’. For more details about this program and access to the log sheet, please click to download.

Consulting Arborist
Can conduct tree assessments and provide reports regarding health and condition. Also they can provide best management practices for protecting trees on development sites, pest and disease identification and treatment, tree selection, pruning or nutrient programs, hazard management (depending upon qualifications) and tree inventories. Not all consulting arborists have suitable risk assessment training.

Qualified Consultants
- Min. AQF Level 5 Diploma in Hort. (Arb) or
Arboriculture (to include subjects list) - All relevant Insurance
- Evidence of ongoing industry training
- 5 years experience in Arboricultural Report Writing
- Experience in Tree Identification, Hazard Assessment

REGISTERED CONSULTING ARBORIST™
An Arborist that has the skills, experience and educational background to provide diverse specialised Arboricultural services.
These include but not limited to:
- provide tree hazard and risk assessments;
- tree care and diagnostics information including identification of pests,fungi and other pathogens
- develop fertilising programmes for trees
- specifications in relation to pruning in accordance with AS4373-2007 Pruning of amenity trees
- tree selection and specifications and undertake tree inventories
- recommendations and advice regarding trees on development sites in accordance with AS 4970-2009 Protection of trees on development sites
- report writing and other written documents
- develop tree management plans, tree pruning and removal programs
- prepare expert witness statements and make appearances in legal proceedings
COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of Australian Qualification Framework Level V (Diploma) in Arboriculture or approved equivalent.
- Public Liability Insurance of $20M
- Professional Indemnity Insurance of $5M
Risk assessment
Either TRAQ or QTRA or equivalent qualification. Specialising in the identification of hazards and the assessment of risk. Risk assessors may not have AQF V.
